Last page. Our findings were mixed. We thought look for strong contrast and texture. We thought avoid mid-tones, only to find that a mid-tone shot had worked well. Other suggestions were few colours, strong colours, strong light and simple shapes or structures. We previously had black and white as a topic in 2014 and 2020.

Neil was pleased with the moodiness of this shot of Calton Hill taken from the St James Quarter roof top. He had had to darken the picture to enhance the moodiness.
Joyce liked the sky in this Edinburgh sky-line.

Sandra admired Ruth's picture of the Elm Row clock. She liked the way the clock was surrounded by clouds and the clarity of the picture.
Ruth liked the sky in this one, taken at Flodden Field.

Both Sonia and Sandra herself really liked this art deco dancer - such sharp focus, strong dark colours and an interesting shadow.
Sonia also liked this one, with the light on Fettes College.

Sue had been inspired by the photography of André Kertész with some of her pictures and these were very successful, including this one which she chose herself.
